Reach Higher Through Leadership Experiences!
E.L.E.V.A.T.E. is a leadership program that provides students with the skills needed to succeed personally and professionally. Specifically, E.L.E.V.A.T.E (Enhancing Leadership Experiences via Activities, Training and Engagement) has seven opportunities for students to engage in leadership training and enhancement opportunities.
Students may choose to participate one or more of the experience below:
L.E.A.D. (Leadership Exploration and Development)
A six week leadership program offered in the fall and spring that focuses of building an increased awareness of self and others, improved communication skills, group dynamics and motivation. Two levels of L.E.A.D. are offered: V.I.P. (Values, Integrity, Purpose) includes workshops focused on the fundamental skills needed for new student leaders; and C. E. O. (Character, Ethics, Opportunity) includes workshops focused on educating leaders about the advanced skills needed for executive leadership positions.

National Society of Leadership and Success (Sigma Alpha Pi)
“The National Society of Leadership and Success is an organization that helps students discover and achieve their leadership goals. Sigma Alpha Pi offers lectures, leadership certification and networking. The Society is also a great resume enhancer. Eligible students must be full-time students with a 2.8 GPA or higher. Invitations are mailed to student each the fall and spring.
Leadership Challenge and Student Leadership Practices Inventory (SLPI)
This two-week workshop offered once a year focuses on Kouzes’ and Posner’s popular Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership research and its companion assessment tool the SLPI. This free workshop is open to all students.

Interested students must complete application by Friday, October 12th
This two-week workshop offered once a year focuses on the four branches of emotional intelligence: perceiving emotions, understanding emotions, facilitating thought and managing emotions. The MSCEIT assessment tool will be available to the workshop participants.
Workshops will be held: Wednesday, February 13th and 20th
International Youth Leadership Conference (United Arab Emirates, Dubai)
The IYLC is a week-long youth forum which provided student participants an opportunity to test their leadership skills, strengthen their cultural awareness, deliver speeches, draft resolutions, make executive decisions, and realize through experience the complexities of the world we live in. Over 120 participants from approximately 35 different nationalities attend the conference. Applications for the following year’s conference will be available in November.
Leadership Lab: An Unconference for Student Leaders
The unconference allows students an opportunity to engage in the best part of any conference experience: the casual conversation and idea sharing between participants. In an unconference we believe that everyone has an expertise or experience to share that can assist or enlighten another. This unconference is offered in February each and is open to all students.
This two-week workshop offered in the spring, provides leadership skill development through improvisation techniques. Students who participate will be engaged in very active and lively activities followed by discussion and reflection.
Applications are due by Tuesday, March 12th
The workshop will be held on Wednesday, March 20th and March 27th at 6pm
