For new students who'd like to get acquainted with campus before the bustle of Freshman Move-In Day, the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs offers a pre-orientation program, The 1821 Experience, that introduces newcomers to everything the Widener community offers. This is way more than just a campus tour! We won't deny that you'll walk away knowing how to navigate Wolfgram Memorial Library, but you'll also learn how to connect with the city of Chester, the greater Philadelphia metropolitan area, and — most importantly — each other.
Your first year of college will be filled with new experiences, and we understand that while it's mostly fun and exciting, there are times when it can be confusing. We're here to help you. The 1821 Experience includes workshops on a number of topics, ranging from the academic (faculty members outlining what they expect in the classroom) to the social (information on how to date responsibly or exercises on adapting to Widener's open and inclusive community).
The 1821 Experience typically begins with moving in a few days before Freshman Check-in. This program ends the day before Freshman Check-in and the start of Freshman Orientation.
Registration is now open to the Class of 2019. Contact the MSA Director at firstname.lastname@example.org to register.
