Looking to join a competitive team but not ready to make a full NCAA commitment?
Joining a club sport is a great way for students to have some competitive play while still having the opportunity to explore other sports options.
Club sport teams play local universities within a particular league and have part-time coaches to guide them through practices and games. Playing a club sport is an excellent opportunity for students to cultivate teamwork, sportsmanship, and leadership skills.

Club Sport Participation
Club sport participants must be full-time, day, undergraduate students on Widener’s Main Campus with a minimum overall grade point average (GPA) of 2.0. Club sports rely on student participation and involvement and are partially funded by the Student Government Association. Students are required to have all health clearances completed prior to participation including but not limited to filing an athletic history and physical form as well as completing a health screen, sickle cell blood draw, and an ImPACT test. Students must also pay the mandatory athletic insurance fee prior to the start of the club’s season.
