When you choose to live at Widener, you get more than just a "dorm room."

You get a home away from home, with all the conveniences of living within a short walking distance -- 15 minutes or less -- from academic buildings, faculty offices, the Dining Hall, our state-of-the-art Wellness Center, and other campus resources.

Students have lived on Widener’s 100-acre Chester campus since the school, then known as the Pennsylvania Military College, moved to the city in the late 1860s. What incoming freshmen get nowadays, though, is a far cry from the austere living conditions cadets were forced to endure back in the day.

Our students live in one of five distinct communities that are carefully designed to promote and foster an individual’s intellectual, spiritual, social, cultural, and emotional development. Through their Resident Assistants, students participate in programs ranging from those teaching study tips to programs that promote health and well-being.

Resident students create a learning community experiencing shared responsibilities to each other and every member of Widener University. Our residential experience exemplifies citizenship at the local level, preparing our students for living in a pluralistic and ever-changing world. Students are more than just residents — they are friends, teammates, neighbors, club members, leaders, classmates, study partners, fraternity brothers, sorority sisters, roommates, and more.

We integrate services and programs that create character development, leadership and appreciation of diversity. We provide opportunities, safety, support and convenience for you to reach as high and as far as you want!
