Student Affairs strives to assist students with their development as educated young adults, life long learners and engaged citizens. Our philosophy is to assist students with cognitive, social and emotional development through our array of programs and services.
Our departments provide experiences through programs and services with the intent and provisions to create student learning and development. We aim to improve student's understanding, autonomy and social being to lead, participate and improve themselves and the communities they engage.
Community
Our students are community members of the Widener Pride! They are also members of the communities that make Widener University:
• Classes
• Residence hall floors
• Student organizations
• Athletic teams, and
• Groups of friends
Civic Engagement
Widener is also an institution committed to civic engagement and to being a part of the:
• Chester
• Greater Philadelphia
• Pennsylvania, and
• Global communities
Development
Students develop — support, confidence, encouragement, and caring, from being a member of these communities.
Students involved in our communities and the communities we engage also report greater satisfaction with their undergraduate experience. They demonstrate academic competency through grades and graduation rates, and they take to job and graduate school interviews evidence of transferable skills.
