General Information

Widener University is a private comprehensive teaching institution accredited in both Pennsylvania and Delaware. The University maintains campuses in Chester, Exton, and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and in Wilmington Delaware.   

Widener's Main Campus, in Chester, Pennsylvania houses the College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Business Administration, Engineering, Hospitality Management, Human Service Professions, and Nursing. Located on the Delaware Campusis the Widener University School of Law. The Harrisburg Campus houses a branch of the Law School. Widener's adult education component, University College, operates programs on the Main Campus, the Exton Campus, and on the Delaware Campus.

The university's four campuses are kept peaceful by the combined efforts of  the entire community. Intelligent, safety-conscious respect for self and others is expected of all students, staff, and guests.

The Main Campus serves approximately 2,300 undergraduate day students, some 1,600 as residents. In addition, 1,300 undergraduate part-time students and 2,000 (non-law) graduate students attend classes on the Main Campus.

The full-time Main Campus faculty numbers 253; the adjunct faculty, 327; the administrative and support staff, 439; and the staff of contract suppliers including food service, housekeeping, and bookstore, 132. All applicants for university employment are required to reveal prior felony criminal offenses on their application forms. Hiring decisions may be affected by a criminal history.

The university's Student Health Center is located at Metropolitan Lane and  Melrose Avenue. It is typically staffed from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on weekdays during the fall and spring semesters and from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on weekdays during the summer.

Academic and administrative facilities are accessible to students, faculty, staff, guests, and other individuals as needed for the active conduct of the university's educational programs and in connection with business matters pertaining thereto. As a private institution, Widener reserves the right to limit  access at any time to any facility. Individuals not associated with the university by employment, as a student, or the guest of an employee or student may be deemed trespassers.

Any individual causing a disturbance and/or displaying inappropriate behavior may be escorted off university property and/or subject to arrest.
