Because of the demands of this program, the biochemistry major is open only to those incoming students that meet the following criteria: MATH + VERBAL SAT score of 1100 or higher (Math > 600) and a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Biochemistry majors are encouraged to apply for the Honor's Program in General Education and may be eligible for considerable financial aid.

CHEM 365/367 (Analytical Chemistry), 366/368 (Instrumental Analysis), and 46/463 (Synthesis and Spectroscopy).
BIOL 306 (Developmental Biology), 319 (Microbiology), 320 (Immunology), and 419 (Applied Microbiology).
**Students who have been enrolled at Widener in another major for at least one semester may change their major to biochemistry, providing that ALL of the following criteria are met: 1. Overall (Widener) GPA of 3.0 or higher 2. A grade of B (3.0) or better in ALL of the ** courses that the student has completed. 3. No grade lower than C (2.0) in any other Widener science or math course. The biochemistry committee will evaluate students transferring in from other institutions for acceptance into the major on a case-by-case basis.
