Courses Taught: General Chemistry I and II lecture and lab; Introduction to General, Organic and Biochemistry lecture and lab; Chemistry and Everyday Life; Introduction to Chemistry I and II; Advanced Inorganic Chemistry.

Research Interest:  Dr. Martin’s research interests involve reactions of transition metal complexes and bioinorganic chemistry. She is also interested in guided inquiry instructional methods.

Academic and Industrial Experience: Andrea Martin received her B.S. in Chemistry from Ursinus College in 1975, and her Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry from the University of Delaware in 1981. The topic of her thesis, under the direction of Professor John Bulkowski, was "Binucleating Macrocycles for Transition Metal Complexes." She was the recipient of an NIH postdoctoral fellowship to Columbia University in NY, where she worked with Professor S. J. Lippard. Dr. Martin worked at Hercules Inc. in Wilmington, DE, for 18 years in research and development, technical service, and sales. Before joining the Widener faculty, she taught at both Delaware Technical and Community College and the University of Delaware..
