Widener University Pre-Medical Program
Chemistry majors need the following courses in addition to the major courses in order to satisfy the entrance requirements for most health professions schools.
Chemistry majors will enhance their credentials in medical school applications by taking the following courses as advanced chemistry electives or free electives.

*It is recommended that students use at least 2 of their electives for upper-level courses in biology to enhance the biology foundation courses. BIOL 302, 303, 306, 307, 309, 310, 319, 320, 325, or 327 are recommended.
**An ENGL 300-level literature course is recommended as 1 of the HUM Electives
***BCH 453/454 Biochemistry I/II Laboratories are recommended to accompany these courses
****A minimum of three semester hours of CHEM 499 must be completed prior to graduation. Students with a minimum 3.0 GPA may opt for the CHEM 408-410: Senior Thesis sequence. Students should consult with their advisors as soon as possible about scheduling.
Students are encouraged to declare their track—ACS certified or not—as early in their program as possible, but no later than the end of their sophomore year. Electives should be undesignated.
