Widener's College of Arts & Sciences offers 24 undergraduate majors and 26 minors (including a minor in Legal Studies and Analysis) in the following disciplines: humanities, sciences, and social sciences. An interdisciplinary major is also offered in Women's Studies.
Students in the College of Arts & Sciences have opportunities to do internships, overseas study, and research with faculty. A significant number of students each year give papers at national and regional conferences. And every student has a full-time faculty academic advisor.
Double majors are also offered in the following areas:
These academic programs are complemented by Widener's ROTC program, Music for Non-Majors, Physical Education courses, and the Environmental Community Outreach program.
Undergraduate students interested in pursuing careers in medicine, optometry, dentistry, podiatry, and veterinary medicine may elect the Pre-Medicine concentration. The courses included in the concentration satisfy the entrance requirements of most health professional schools. A Minor in Legal Studies and Analysis provides students wishing to pursue a law degree with academic preparation in the skill areas required for the Law School Admission Test (LSAT).
A select group of undergraduate students from all schools are admitted to the Honors Program in General Education. A discipline-based honors degree is offered in History. Because Honors courses count towards the General Education requirement for all students, it is still possible for students with demanding majors to participate. The Honors Program Director works closely with each of these discipline-based programs to facilitate student success.
Widener's Academic Support Services coordinates several programs and services to assist students in improving academic performance. All of these programs are available to Widener students on a no-fee basis:
