The Widener Partnership Charter 

The Widener Partnership Charter School is a most appropriate vehicle for helping address the educational needs of the Chester-Upland School District because it promises stability and sustainability. 

The Widener Partnership Charter School offers stability and sustainability because the coalition partners are established, flourishing organizations rooted in the Chester community and because the leaders of these organizations are totally committed to this school as a long-term investment in the health and vitality of the community.  These partner organizations also bring great expertise and a rich array of resources directly relevant to the organization and operation of a K-5 school.

Both Widener’s presidentand the dean of Widener’s School of Human Service Professionsare committed to making Widener Partnership Charter a central component of the university’s partnership with the Chester community, and a number of community residents and leaders of community organizations have joined the founding coalition. 

The Extensive Resources & Facilities of Widener University

The school will be located near the Widener campus in Chester, Pennsylvania,the oldest city in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.  The proximity of faculty, pre-service candidates, other Widener studentswho will be members of the Interdisciplinary Resource Teams, and the availability of the university’s facilities are significant advantages for a location that is nearby. 

Widener University's facilities include the Science Teaching Center, computer labs, Theatre Widener, observatory, and alternative meeting areas. The School of Hospitality Management has meal preparation labs for illustrating chemistry in action, and Widener's School of Business Administrationcan offer programs where parents and students can learn the basics of finance, savings, and taxes.

Locating the school close to the Widener campus will also permit Widener’s Campus Safety operation to assist with security.
