CONFIDENTIALITY

All Counseling Center records are confidential. Records are released only with the completion of a release of information form.

Interns and practicum students are supervised by a licensed mental health professional. Information about clients will be shared with these supervisors to ensure quality and consistency of care. Supervisors are ethically bound to maintain confidentiality of all information shared in supervision sessions.

The ethical guidelines for the practice of psychology and social work may place limits upon the confidentiality of mental health services. Your counselor will inform you of these limits when you begin services.

Law students should be aware that it is possible that in making application to take the Bar exam you may be asked if you have ever received psychological counseling/therapy. It is our policy not to release any information or to acknowledge students' contact with the center without your signed consent.
