Join us for a weekend of family-friendly events geared specifically for parents of current Widener students during Homecoming weekend.

Homecoming Stargazing with Dr. Augensen

Time: 8:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Where: Kirkbride Hall, Room 507

At the Widener University Observatory, students in our physics department use a 16-inch computerized Meade Cassegrain reflecting telescope and several, smaller, 12-inch telescopes to get first-hand experience viewing planets, stars, nebulae, clusters, and galaxies.

Widener University Parents' Network Family Weekend Brunch & Meeting

Time: 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

Where: University Center, Lower Level Lounge (NEW LOCATION)

Hosted by the Dean of Students, Dr. Denise Gifford, come join fellow Widener parents and families for a hot breakfast, followed by a Parents’ Network opening meeting featuring key Widener administrators to answer parent questions and address any student concerns.


Arts & Sciences Reception

Time: 11:00 a.m. -- 12:30 p.m.

Where: Quick Stadium

Come sample WuBrew Costa Rican coffee, a project of Widener’s Environmental Science program.


Widener Parents’ Network Picnic and Lawn Games

Time: 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Where: Kapelski lawn

Come participate in family-friendly fun lawn games (ultimate frisbee, badminton, and corn hole anyone?) and enjoy a BBQ picnic with fellow Widener families.


Homecoming comedian - Andrew Shulz

Time: 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Where: Alumni Auditorium

Parents are welcome to join Widener students and alumni. Tickets for Widener family members will be covered by the Division of Student Affairs.  This event is designated for mature audiences only.


Film and Discussion: Kung Fu Hustle

Time: 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Where: Freedom Hall Theater

Film and discussion led by Dr. Yongszhen Shu, Assistant Professor of Chinese/Modern Languages.  The work of international superstar Stephen Chow, Kung Fu Hustle is a humorous,special-effects-filled, action-packed martial arts epic set in early '40s China that was a huge hit across Asia when it was released in 2004.
