The humanities, with their proper concern for the education of the total person, are a vital aspect of the basic educational program of Widener. The humanities provide students with a broad undergraduate preparation for both personal and social attainment through the development of creative talents and intellectual potential.
Students majoring in one of the humanities should work out a sound, balanced program of study in close consultation with their faculty advisors. In addition to obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree within the major programs, humanities students may pursue studies in studio art, art history, music performance, music history, philosophy, and theater. Within each major field, students are also given the opportunity for independent study.
