 TECHNOLOGY

Our Technical Resources group provides network connectivity support to 20 locations covering all 4 Widener Campuses, Technology Park and 11 public school districts in the local Delaware County.   They also support 165 Local Area Networks, with 28 network routers, over 200 network switches, and providing over 5,000 100 Megabit pc connections.

Widener's Network

The Widener University network implements a fully meshed Gigabit (1000 Megabit) Ethernet backbone, with up to 4 Gigabits of bandwidth between each of the Core switches. Every switch closet is connected to the backbone with Gigabit Ethernet fiber connections, utilizing up to 30 miles of multimode fiber. The Delaware Campus is connected to the Main Campus with 17 miles of fiber, providing 4 Gigabits of bandwidth.

The Harrisburg Campus is connected to both the Main Campus and Delaware Campus with an Ethernet circuit providing 45 MB of bandwidth supporting Voice, Video and Data traffic.
