COMMENCEMENT INFORMATION SESSIONS
The commencement ceremony information sessions will be held in the Alumni Auditorium on April 15 from 5 to 6 p.m. and on April 16 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. It is important for graduates who want to participate in commencement to attend an information session if at all possible.
The commissioning ceremony will be held at the Veterans Memorial in front of Old Main on Wednesday, May 15, at 11:00 a.m. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will move to Alumni Auditorium. A reception will follow in Lathem Hall. For information, call Army ROTC at 610-499-4098.
The Nightingale Ceremony is held for School of Nursing undergraduates, families, and friends. This year, the Nightingale ceremony will be at The Springfield Country Club (400 W Sproul Rd, Springfield, PA 19064) at noon on Thursday, May 16. For more information, call 610-499-4212.
UNDER THE DOME RECEPTION
The Under the Dome Reception is open to all graduates on Thursday, May 16, from 4:30 p.m to 6:30 p.m. Students began their undergraduate journey at Widener by walking under The Dome at convocation, and now they celebrate the end of their journey by walking under it again at graduation.
GRADUATE AND EXTENDED LEARNING STUDENT AWARDS CEREMONY
This ceremony honors master's, doctoral, and adult baccalaureate degree recipients of commencement awards. Award recipients, donors, family members, friends, faculty, and fellow graduates are invited to attend this special event. It begins at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2019, in Lathem Hall.
SCHOOL OF HUMAN SERVICE PROFESSIONS DOCTORAL HOODING
This is a special recognition ceremony for doctoral degree candidates during which candidates receive their doctoral hood, signifying success in completing their program and preparation for the official commencement event later that day. Doctoral candidates will receive a limited number of tickets to invite family and friends. The recognition will take place at 10 am on Friday, May 17, 2019, in Alumni Auditorium.
SCHOOL OF NURSING DOCTORAL HOODING
This is a special recognition ceremony for doctoral degree candidates during which candidates receive their doctoral hood, signifying success in completing their program and preparation for the official commencement event later that day. This main event celebrates the achievements of August and December 2018 and May 2019 graduating students. The ceremony will take place May 17 at 4 p.m. at The Mann Center in Philadelphia, PA. There is unlimited seating for graduates' guests. However, seating under the awning is limited. Information about tickets will be posted here in March. With the exception of Seeing Eye dogs, please do not bring animals to the ceremony. Alcoholic beverages are not allowed. Please be courteous and remain until the end of the ceremony.
Important Security Precaution: No backpacks or large bags at graduation.
