Center for Hospitality Management Hosts Annual Career Day Feb. 15

Angela Val, executive director of the 2016 Democratic National Convention Host Committee, will serve as the keynote speaker.

The Widener University Center for Hospitality Management will host its annual Career Day Wednesday, Feb. 15. This event is open to students and professionals from throughout the region to help those interested in the hospitality profession launch a successful career.

The 2017 Hospitality Management Career Day features information sessions presented by Red Lobster and Wegmans, a career fair with more than 30 area employers and a lightning roundtable session, where participants can network and learn from hospitality professionals in hotels, events, restaurants, clubs, sales and finance.

The Career Day will also feature a keynote address by Angela Val, chief administration officer of the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau. Val served on the Philadelphia 2016 Democratic National Convention Host Committee as executive director, mobilizing internal resources and external partners and stakeholders to successfully prepare and implement the 2016 Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia. Prior to joining the 2016 DNC Host Committee, Val was a member of the award-winning Visit Philadelphia team for 16 years.

The Career Day begins on Feb. 15 at 10 a.m. in Widener University’s Academic Center North Amphitheater with the Red Lobster and Wegmans event. The keynote address takes place at 2 p.m. in the Academic Center North Marriott Dining Room.
