      Four Swimmers Make Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Teams


      Widener Swimming

      Four Widener University swimmers were recently named to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Team. Nominations and voting were done by the sports information offices at 30 institutions in the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

      Melaney Heald, a senior finance major; Jeff Hicks, a senior an electrical engineering major; Christine Kunzler, a junior nursing major; and Alyssa Myers, a sophomore biology/pre-PT major, were all recognized for their outstanding academic and athletic achievements. In addition, Heald and Hicks earned the award for the second straight season.

      Widener now has 10 student-athletes who have made the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Team in their respective sport during the 2016-17 academic year. The full list of winners is below.
