      Judith McLaughlin, Donor Relations Coordinator

Judith McLaughlin, a donor relations coordinator for the Office of Development, works with Widener alumni and donors, as she helps maintain the database to ensure that all donations are processed.

In her role, McLaughlin maintains and reports data input for donors. She works mostly on the administrative side with a focus on donor relations for Delaware Law. She is the “problem-solver” for anything related to donations or processing.

She enjoys the variety of her position. “I like finding different ways to set up information for it be more useful,” McLaughlin said. “If I can help make the data easier to understand then I’ve done my job. I love troubleshooting and problem-solving.” Though her official title is donor relations coordinator, she thinks of herself as a data specialist.

While working for the law schools, McLaughlin helped code the records in the database so that Delaware and Commonwealth each had their own, so that reports could be easily made with numbers specific to each campus. This helped with the accreditation process.

One of her favorite events to be part of is the Delaware Law Alumni Reception. McLaughlin works closely with the alumni board that coordinates the event.

Before joining the development staff at Widener in 2008, McLaughlin worked as a method analyst for 32 years at TV Guide.

This year was extra special at Widener for McLaughlin as she was joined on campus by her son, who just completed his freshman year as an accounting major in the School of Business Administration. “Widener is not only a great place to work, but also a great place for my son to learn and grow,” she said. “I’m happy he chose Widener – I know he is getting a quality education here.”

McLaughlin recently returned to the classroom and is taking classes towards her bachelor’s degree.

Off campus, the Ridley Park, Pa. resident belongs to the Hibernian Catholic Organization, and enjoys spending time with family and friends.
