      Jeremy Wingert, Faculty Secretary

As the faculty secretary on the Widener Law Commonwealth Campus, Jeremy Wingert operates as mission-control for the administrative needs of the faculty and students.

Wingert has held this position since 2013, and his main responsibilities include keeping track of attendance, proctoring quizzes and exams, scheduling appointments, distributing assignments, typing and proofreading documents, coordinating exam review for students, and tabulating grades.

One of the highlights of his job is getting to interact with the students at the law school.

“I derive a great deal of fulfillment from rubbing shoulders with our diverse and vibrant students,” Wingert said. “I’ve gotten to know many of them so well that I get a little choked up when I see them graduate! They are easily the best part of working in academia.”

Wingert applied for the faculty secretary position because he liked the idea of working in academics and savored the college atmosphere.

“I enjoy overhearing intelligent and impassioned conversations about law, government, and society (and Oxford commas now and then) in the faculty hallway,” he said.  “Our professors are remarkably articulate and well-read.”

Prior to moving back to Pennsylvania, where he is from originally, he and his wife, Danielle, lived in Colorado. They welcomed a son, Greyson, last summer. In his down time, Wingert and his wife enjoy traveling, hiking, and leading an outdoor-oriented lifestyle with Greyson in Dillsburg, Pa.

“We savor every moment of our low-key existence: family jogs and hikes around the Dillsburg countryside, trips to the farmer’s market, playing with Greyson in the yard, and embarking on a few big trips a year,” he said. “Family is everything to us, and we are resoundingly grateful for all we’ve been given.”
