      Linda Durant

      Senior Vice President for University Advancement Linda Durant made a presentation at the Pennsylvania ACE Women's Network annual leadership conference July 28. She conducted a session called "Working Successfully with an Executive Search Firm – Lessons Learned." The event was held at Cabrini University in Radnor.

      Sandra Campbell

      In May, Sandra Campbell from the Institute for Physical Therapy Education started her three year term on the Pennsylvania State Board of Physical Therapy. Campbell was sworn in by Deputy Secretary for Regulatory Affairs Peter Speaks along with Cynthia Potter, PT, DPT and Tammy Frey, PTA. She was supported by her state senator, nominated by the governor and confirmed by the state Senate. She is the only current board member from southeastern Pennsylvania.

      Journal of Nursing Education

      The August issue of the Journal of Nursing Education includes three papers authored by Widener nursing faculty, including one co-authored with a physical therapy faculty member. Cathleen A. Evans, lecturer of nursing, and Mary Baumberger-Henry, professor of nursing, co-wrote "The Tabletop Matrix: Determining reliability for a criterion-referenced performance measure." Darrell Spurlock, associate professor of nursing, wrote "Toward a Nightingalean perspective on statistical significance for nursing education researchers." Robert Wellmon, a physical therapy professor, and Dawn Ferry, director for the Center of Simulation and Computerized Testing, co-wrote "Effects of high-fidelity simulation on physical therapy and nursing students' attitudes toward interprofessional learning and collaboration." Also, the June issue of the journal included an article by Susan Mills, assistant professor of nursing, titled "Curriculum Revision: Student Stress and Lessons Learned."

      Jill Family

      Commonwealth Professor of Law and Government Jill E. Family recently presented in Madrid and San Sebastian. In Madrid, she presented to the law faculties of two universities, Universidad Rey Juan Carlos and Universidad Complutense de Madrid. In San Sebastian, she spoke at a summer course organized by universities and the Basque government. The course was about the legal dynamics between European law and the legal systems of individual European Union member states. Immigration law was one of the substantive topics covered in the course.

      Commonwealth Emeritus Professor of Law John Gedid was elected to the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Bar Institute. The institute, a fully self-supporting nonprofit organization, is the continuing legal education arm of the Pennsylvania Bar Association.

      The Bodyweight Training Encyclopedia

      Dr. Jon Herting, a Widener alum who is active with the university as an adjunct professor and board member for the Chester Community Physical Therapy Clinic, recently published "The Bodyweight Training Encyclopedia," a comprehensive guide to fitness training for all levels of fitness and features 20 bodyweight workouts to target every muscle. Herting graduated in 2012 from Widener's Doctor of Physical Therapy program and is a partner at The Training Room Physical Therapy in Garnet Valley, Pennsylvania.
