      nursing students at half marathon

      Nursing students assist the medical team at the Philadelphia Rock-n-Roll Half Marathon.

      Under the leadership of Cathleen Evans, lecturer in the School of Nursing, 15 junior and senior nursing students provided nursing care as part of the medical team for the Philadelphia Rock-n-Roll Half Marathon on Sunday, Sept. 18.

      Dr. Dipendu Saha

      Dr. Dipendu Saha, assistant professor of chemical engineering, presented this summer at the World Conference on Carbon held at Penn State. He presented a post on "Mesoporous Carbons as Novel Materials for Passive Drug Delivery," and gave a talk on "Sulfur-Doped Micro-Mesoporous Carbons For CO2 Separation."

      Dr. Darrell Spurlock Jr.

      Dr. Darrell Spurlock Jr., associate professor of nursing, will receive the Nancy Langston Research Grant Award for, "What Do Nursing Students Know about Evidence-based Practice? A National Study of EBP Knowledge Across Academic Levels" at the National League for Nursing's (NLN) 2016 Education Summit in Orlando Sept.21-23. The NLN grants support rigorous, high quality pedagogical research studies. Two students in the doctoral program in the School of Nursing, Lisa Carroll and Darlene Kuchinski-Donnelly have been named to the seventh cohort of NLN Jonas Scholars program.

      Dr. James Vike, associate professor of political science, presented the talk "Making Democracy Work: Civility and Engaged Citizenship," which examined civil discourse in a polarized era, on Sept. 16 at the League of Women Voters, Central Delaware County.
