      new justices

      Delaware Law alumni with Delaware Supreme Court justices

      Law clerks to four of the five Delaware Supreme Court justices this year are May 2016 Delaware Law School grads.

      The court is one of national prominence that receives hundreds of applications for clerk positions.


      Institute for Physical Therapy Education recent alumni Jonathan Bellizio, Nicole Rayson and Shelby Weiss authored “An Organizational Model and Growth of a Free-Standing Physical Therapy Student-Run Clinic,” which was published in the student-administered Journal of Student-Run Clinics.

      Institute for Physical Therapy Education students Megan Crowley, Sarah Lienesch, Kristen Luer and Kaitlin Schnalzer recently cleaned and repaired assistive devices at Plush Mills Senior Living in Wallingford, Pa. The students serviced 10 wheelchairs, seven walkers and one motorized scooter. The students performed this service as part of Dr. Kerstin Palombaro’s Geriatric Elective. Physical therapy students are involved in additional service activities throughout the month as October is National Physical Therapy Month, and Oct. 17 is Physical Therapy Day of Service.


      Dr. Brenda Kucirka, assistant professor of nursing, is teaching an eight-week awareness and well-being workshop to incarcerated men at the Transitional Housing Unit in the State Correctional Institution in Chester to support successful reentry upon release from prison. Kucirka also led a group of School of Nursing student volunteers on Sept. 24 in the Peace and Unity Rally in Chester. The students provided blood pressure screenings and health education. The School of Nursing also staffed a table with activities for children to promote peace and positive coping strategies as an alternative to confrontation and violence.

      H. Geoffrey Moulton Jr., who taught at Delaware Law School for many years and departed with emeritus professor status, was sworn in as a Pennsylvania Superior Court judge on Sept. 29.

      Christopher Robinette

      Commonwealth Law Professor Christopher Robinette presented "What Prosser on Prosser Reveals about Prosser on Torts" to the Duquesne University faculty in September. Also, his article "The Prosser Letters: 1917-1948" was published in the Iowa Law Review. Robinette was also recently named editor-in-chief of the Journal of Tort Law.

      Dr. Dipendu Saha

      Dr. Dipendu Saha, assistant professor of chemical engineering, published in July "Characteristics of Methane Adsorption in Micro–Mesoporous Carbons at Low and Ultra-High Pressure" in Energy Technology, which Babitha Tom, an engineering graduate student, assisted with. Saha also published "Controlled Release of Alendronate from Nitrogen-Doped Mesoporous Carbon," which originated from the senior project of Amanda Spurri '16. In August, Saha published "Postextraction Separation, On-Board Storage and Catalytic Conversion of Methane in Natural Gas: A Review" in Chemical Reviews.
