      Beideman Visiting Scholar Address: New Frontiers in Sustainability in Higher Education

      Dr. Peggy F. Barlett, an early leader in sustainability in higher education, will deliver an address as the Oskin Leadership Institute's Beideman Visiting Scholar. Barlett, the Goodrich C. White Professor of Anthropology at Emory University, is an award-winning specialist in agricultural anthropology and sustainability in higher education. She has led workshops on curriculum development for more than 500 campus leaders around the country. Co-editor of the groundbreaking Sustainability on Campus: Stories and Strategies for Change (MIT Press, 2004) and Sustainability in Higher Education: Stories and Strategies for Transformation (MIT Press, 2013), she is also author of an award-winning study of the U.S. farm crisis of the 1980s titled "American Dreams, Rural Realities: Family Farms in Crisis," published by University of North Carolina Press, 1993.

      The 2017 Hospitality Management Career Day features information sessions presented by Red Lobster and Wegmans, a career fair with more than 30 area employers and a lightning roundtable session, where participants can network and learn from hospitality professionals in hotels, events, restaurants, clubs, sales and finance. The Career Day will also feature a keynote address by Angela Val, chief administration officer of the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau. Val served on the Philadelphia 2016 Democratic National Convention Host Committee as executive director.


      Jurist in Residence Lecture: A Reasonable Expectation of Transparency – Where the Rights to Know and to Privacy Intersect

      The Widener Law Journal will present its annual symposium. This year's presentation will seek to foster a civil dialog between competing ideologies in the political sphere. Topics for discussion will center around separation of powers, election reform, the media's impact on politics and federal appointments.
