      Creating Flannery O'Connor

      Daniel Moran, a professor of history at Monmouth University, will speak on his most recent study Creating Flannery O'Connor: Her Critics, Her Readers (University of Georgia Press, 2016). His work examines how a literary reputation – and the image of a cultural icon – has been made, not only by O'Connor herself, but also by her readers, reviewers, critics, publishers and filmmakers.


      Lunch and Learn: The School to Prison Pipeline and How You Can Make a Difference

      When: October 26, 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
      Where: Widener Law Commonwealth, Library Building, The Pit

      Join La Tasha Williams and Giovanni Reid for a lunch and learn. Reid served 26 years in SCI Graterford and was recently released in September 2017. He was sentenced to life in prison as a juvenile, but has maintained his innocence and continues to litigate his innocence claims. Williams is a December 2017 Widener Commonwealth graduate currently working as a law clerk and certified legal intern with the Lehigh County Public Defenders. After taking a class offered by Temple University, Williams stepped in to advocate on Reid's behalf.

      10th Annual Careers in Sexuality Conference

      When: November 1, 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
      Where: University Center

      The theme of the 10th Annual Careers in Sexuality Conference was inspired by the culturally relevant message of Grammy award winning artist Solange's 3rd debut album, "A Seat the Table." This year's conference is intended to create space for learning, professional development and community for emerging sexuality professionals that builds upon a charge of change within the field of human sexuality.

      International Education Week will be celebrated November 5 to 11. The Multicultural Fair will be Friday, November 10, 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
      Where: University Center Atrium

      International Student Services, in collaboration with numerous other offices and clubs, is sponsoring International Education Week from November 5 to 11. Events will include a photo contest, coffee/tea samplings, restaurant trips to Philadelphia and international film screenings. Learn more.
