Law Celebrates First Year Honor Students

      Delaware Law School

Forty-two first-year law students were honored for achieving the Dean’s Honors List in their first semester at Delaware Law School.

At Delaware Law School, 42 first-year law students were honored recently for achieving a grade point average in their first semester of law school that placed them on the Dean’s Honors List.

Dean Rod Smolla hosted a late afternoon reception on Wednesday, Jan. 31, honoring the students for their academic achievement. Full-time faculty and members of Delaware Law School administration were invited to celebrate with the students as well.

Smolla welcomed the students to their celebration of academic success, and expressed pride at the academic achievements of those honored. Hearkening to the closing scene of the movie Patton, however, he also warned that “all glory is fleeting,” and challenged the students to continue their hard work, and to continue to develop their professional personas as lawyers.

The honors event also featured short presentations by leaders of the Delaware Journal of Corporate Law, Widener Law Review, Moot Court Honor Society, Transactional Law Society, and the Wolcott Fellowship Program to introduce the organizations to the honors students. First-year students are required to complete their first semester of law school before joining a law review or honor society.

Students, faculty, and administrators enjoyed good food, great conversation, and a wonderful sense of accomplishment.
