During the program students will have the opportunity to go off campus to meet with local area leaders, participate in leadership and teambuilding experiences, take an emotional learning survey and receive an assessment, create a leadership development plan, and take a leadership role in freshman orientation.

This freshmen wilderness pre-orientation program is designed to help ease the transition from high school to college. It provides the perfect setting for incoming freshmen to get a head start on making new friends prior to the start of college.
The wilderness certified upperclassmen leaders teach the students fundamental outdoor skills while engaging in exciting activities. They aim to help the freshmen overcome the typical fears about entering college while having a great time in the Appalachian Mountains!
And don't worry, some of the people going have never been backpacking before either. So camp out, make friends, and join in - we're sure you're up for the challenge.
This program begins 3 PM Wednesday, August 27, 2008. Resident students move-into their residence hall room between 10 AM – 3 PM.
