Educational Impact

Charter schools, within the context of the public education system, are designed to offer parents and caregivers alternative choices for the education of their children. The charter schools of the Chester-Upland School District are just as much a part of the public education system as are the traditional schools of the District. If parents and families are satisfied with the existing schools in the District, they will keep their children in those schools.  To the extent that parents and families believe that new charter schools offer better opportunities for their children, they will enroll their children in those alternative public schools.

It is the responsibility of those alternative public schools, the Widener Partnership Charter School included, to deliver the educational program promised; and, it is the responsibility of the District to hold those charter schools accountable for meeting the commitments made in the charter application.
