OFF-Campus Living

Community Relations

Students are expected to conduct themselves within the local community in a responsible and considerate manner at all times. Any conduct that brings discredit to the university and its members will result in disciplinary action.

Off-Campus Incidents and Student Responsibilities

Behavior that varies with standards set by the university will be sanctioned whether the offense takes place on or off campus and whether or not law enforcement officials are involved. There may be incidents either on or off campus that result in criminal charges being made by local police against a student of the university. When a student is apprehended on criminal charges and Campus Safety is notified of the arrest, a representative of Student Affairs will be notified. When deemed appropriate by the Associate Provost and Dean of Student or his designee, the university will attempt to contact the student's parents or the person whom the student has designated to be contacted in the event of an emergency.

Judicial

The university also reserves the right to discipline students for seriously or chronically offensive behavior occurring off-campus if the behavior violates university policies, interferes with the relationship of the university to others, or harms the reputation of the university. The university's judicial process may proceed without waiting for adjudication of any civil or criminal charges to be completed.
