Admission Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale) from an accredited institution.
  • An acceptable score on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT), Graduate Record Examination (GRE), or the Miller Analogies Test (MAT).
  • If from a non-English speaking country, a passing score on either the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). A proficiency certificate from a Language Institue may be substituted for TOEFL or IELTS equivalency.
  • A minimum of one year of full-time supervisory or managerial experience for those applicants with an undergraduate degree in Hospitality Management.
  • Or 400 hours of hospitality industry experience for those candidates with a degree in a discipline other than hospitality.
  • A current résumé.
  • Academic transcripts from all colleges and universities attended.
  • Two letters of recommendation from:
    • A college-level faculty member.
    • An employer.
  • A completed application form and a $25 nonrefundable application fee payable to Widener University.
  • An essay explaining why the applicant wishes to do graduate work in the hospitality management field. Applicants should limit their essay to one typewritten page.
