SCHOOL OF HUMAN SERVICE PROFESSIONS

The School of Human Service Professions consists of the following academic units:

  • The Center for Education
  • The Center for Social Work Education
  • The Institute for Graduate Clinical Psychology
  • The Institute for Physical Therapy Education

The School of Human Service Professions offers degrees at the bachelors, masters, and doctoral levels. The undergraduate programs include teacher certification options available through the Center for Education and a Bachelor of Social Work program available through the Center for Social Work Education.

Every program involves students from their moment of entry in community-based activities through which they apply their knowledge and skills to address needs in the metropolitan region.

  • The Center for Education offers unique placement experiences for students in the Widener Partnership Charter School, one of a very small number of university-sponsored charter schools in the country.

  • Beginning in Fall 2007, the Center for Social Work Education will offer a Ph.D. Program that focuses on developing professionals working in the field of social work into academic leaders through intensive training in research, teaching, and advanced clinical practice.

  • The Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) program offered by Institute for Graduate Clinical Psychology was the first such program accredited by the American Psychological Association.

  • The latest outcomes assessment for the Institute for Physical Therapy Education's  Doctor of Physical Therapy Program shows a 97% graduation rate, a 96% pass rate for the licensing examination, and a 100% employment rate for graduates of the program.
