STUDENT AFFAIRS

Widener University is not just a collection of individuals; it’s a community, with many smaller communities within it. You will find smaller communities within classes, residence hall floors, student organizations, athletic teams, and your group of friends. You’ll derive lots of benefits from being a member of these communities — support, growth, encouragement, and caring.

The bottom line is that students who get involved, across the board, report greater satisfaction with their undergraduate experience. They achieve better grades, they graduate at higher rates, and they get hired into better jobs. Get involved in one or many positive activities outside the classroom here at Widener.

Widener, as an institution, is committed to civic engagement — to being a part of Chester, of Greater Philadelphia, of Pennsylvania.  I hope you’ll take advantage of opportunities to be part of those larger communities and to be civically engaged.

We each have 168 hours in a week. You'll spend 15 of those hours in class, which gives you 153 hours during which I hope you’ll make good choices in the pursuit of your educational and personal goals.

Only one in a hundred people worldwide becomes a college graduate. You’re starting on a course that will put you among that elite group. It’s an attainment you’ll be proud of.  It’s a reminder of your responsibility to others. And it’s a great ride to get there.
