PLACE: University Center
DATE: Sunday, January 13, 2008
TIME: See Below
We are very excited for your arrival this spring. Below is information pertaining to the formal check-in and move-in process. We would recommend that you review this information to make your arrival a smooth transition.
You are cordially invited to attend the New Student Orientation program on Monday, January 14, 2008. Check-In for this program will run from 7:30am-9:30am, and will be held in the Webb Room in the University Center. The orientation program will help you learn your responsibilities as a successful member of the Widener University community, and will provide you with the opportunity to interact with your fellow new students as well as some of our C.R.E.W. Leaders, returning students here to aid in your transition.
The orientation program is considered an academic requirement for new students as this program initiates your status as a “Widener student.” Because this program is so vital to your success, attendance is required.
The tentative schedule is as follows:
7:30am – 9:30am: Check-In & Continental Breakfast Webb Room, University Center
**PLEASE BE SURE TO CHECK-IN AT SOME POINT BETWEEN 7:30 AM & 9:30 AM. YOU WILL RECEIVE THE FINAL SCHEDULE FOR THE DAY AS WELL AS OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION**
9:30am – 12:00pm: Academic Classes & Optional Activities
12:00pm – 1:00pm: Lunch & Keys to Academic Success Webb Room, University Center (**Mandatory Event**)
1:00pm – 5:00pm: Academic Classes & Optional Activities
5:00pm – 7:00pm Dinner & Keys to Social Success Webb Room, University Center (**Mandatory Event**)
You must attend only the classes which are on your class schedule. If you find it necessary to change or drop a class, you must fill out a Drop/Add form, which can be obtained from your advisor, who must sign your form. If you wish to withdraw from a course after the Drop/Add period, the course instructor must also sign the Drop/Add form. You must then bring the form to the Registrar’s Office. This is the only way to change or withdraw from a class.
It is your responsibility to verify that your are officially registered for all the classes you are attending and that you officially drop or withdraw from any class which you do not attend. You are officially registered only when you turn in the proper form to the Registrar’s Office.
If you attend a class for which you are not officially registered, you will not receive credit for the class. If you stop attending a class for which you are officially registered, but do not withdraw form the class, you will receive an “F”.
Accessing the Web Advisor tab on CampusCruiser gives you the ability to view and print your class schedule. Below are the steps to access your class schedule, via CampusCruiser:
Log-on to CampusCruiser
Click on the “Web Advisor” tab
Go to the left side of the screen under “Registration” and click on
“My Class Schedule”
In the drop down box, click on the term desired (e.g. Spring 2008)

On behalf of the Widener University Student Health Services Staff, I extend a warm welcome to new freshmen and transfers. We look forward to the opportunity to assist you with your health care needs when you arrive at the university.

Widener University requires all full-time undergraduate students to have personal health insurance. All student accounts are charged for health insurance. In order to have this charge removed, you need to complete the Waiver section of the card and attach a copy of the front and back of your insurance card to the form. The waiver/acceptance card will be mailed to you in early January and you are encouraged to return the completed form in the supplied self-addressed postage paid envelope.
If you choose to take the Widener University health insurance option, complete the Enrollment section of the card and return in the self-addressed, postage paid envelope. Spring/Summer coverage is in effect from January 1, 2008-August 24, 2008.

Dear Student,
We are preparing to welcome you to Widener University and in doing so,would like to provide you with some information about your experience. Living in the residence halls will provide you with numerous opportunities to become a positive member of this community. For example, you may join the Residence Hall Association (RHA), Student Government (SGA) or an athletic team. This is just one area where you need to make choices that help to shape your experience. As a member of our community, you will be living in an environment that is purposefully structured to provide opportunities to meet diverse people, learn outside of the classroom, and make positive contributions within and outside the University community.
Whether you are living on or off campus, let us remind you that we have high expectations of our university community members. Please refer to the Student Handbook as a resource and familiarize yourself with the Student Code of Conduct prior to your arrival. If you have any questions related to the Student Code of Conduct, please e-mail us at judicial.affairs@mail.widener.edu. For those of you living on campus, there is additional information found in the Student Handbook regarding housing policies and procedures.
As a member of the residence hall community, you are afforded certain individual rights that you and your roommate(s) should respect. However, these rights carry with them a shared responsibility to ensure that others are afforded the same rights regardless of personal ideals, cultural differences, or lifestyles. When you respect these rights and act accordingly, you will be helping to make the best possible community at Widener University. We know that there are many choices and opportunities ahead of you. Please know that staff of professionals and Resident Assistants (RA's) are here to provide guidance and support to help you find the most enriching path for you as an individual. Best wishes for a fulfilling and successful semester!
