DCCC and Widener University, University College Partnership   

Delaware County Community College (DCCC) & University College, Widener University entered into an academic partnership to help Emergency Medical Service professionals obtain both an Associate and a Bachelor Degree

Here is how you can turn an EMT certification and Associate in Applied Science—Paramedic into a Bachelor's degree!

DCCC now offers an Associate in Applied Science degree in Paramedic-Advanced Life Support.  DCCC now offers an Associate in Applied Science degree in Paramedic-Advanced Life Support.  Widener University accepts 40 BLOC credits plus additional general education credits as transfer into the  Bachelor of Science in Allied Health Degree.  The total amount of transfer credits equals 61.

Upon successful completion of Advanced Life Support course work, students will be eligible to take the EMT-Paramedic National Registry Exam.

How does it work?

For the Associate degree option, the currently certified Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic student must:

Complete 40 DCCC Advanced Life Support (ALS) credits

Complete 21 DCCC general education credits

Once completed the 61 credits Associate degree will transfer in the Widener University's 120 credit  Bachelor of Science in Allied Health degree.  The entire Bachelor's degree is available completely online or in the NetCampus, Weekend, or Evening format.


How does it transfer?

40 BLOC credits will be awarded for the ALS courses and 20 general education credits will be awarded for the following:

Anatomy & Physiology I & II

English Composition I & II

Sociology elective*

Humanities elective**

1 free elective credit Nursing Mathematics

* Selected from: ADJ 101-Intro to Criminal Justice, ECO 210-Macro Principles, ECO 220-Micro Principles, PSY 140-General Psychology, SOC 110-Intro to Sociology

** Selected from: ART 110-Art History, HIS 110-American History I, HIS 130-Western Civilization I, MUS 120-Intro to Music, PHI 100-Intro to Physiology, or Intro to Foreign Language
