About Me

Greetings! I’m Dr. Lexx Brown-James {She|Her|Dr}, a certified sexuality educator, supervisor and licensed marriage and family therapist. Here in St. Louis, MO I own The Institute for Sexuality & Intimacy, LLC where, I provide therapy and contract with various organizations regarding reproductive justice and accessible, comprehensive, intersectional, and anti-oppressive sexuality education. As an LMFT and CSE I merge the educational and therapy worlds to help others find their way as sexuality professionals.

As a professor at Widener University, I have had the pleasure of teaching budding sexologists, senior sexologists and various types of clinicians. Further, as a consultant, I have had the opportunity to work with educators, counselors, and therapists around the globe!

Personally, I am leaning into the challenge of raising sex positive, body confident Black children while maintaining healthy relationships with loved ones. My children’s book These are my Eyes, This is my Nose, This is my Vulva, These are my Toes is an Amazon Best Seller that normalizes body parts, discusses gender, and teaches consent with fun colorful illustrations. And, I currently AASECT as the Vice President of Membership.

Research Interests

I am interested in researching reproductive justice-based interventions to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates, creating evidence based curricula regarding teaching anti-racist, sex-positive, comprehensive and inclusive sex education and working with reduction and conflict resolution for couples in conflict.
