About Me
I currently hold degrees in International Relations/Political Science, Peace and Conflict Studies, Secondary Education Social Studies, Education Administration, and Teaching English as a Second Language. I have worked in the field of education since before I left high school. My students have ranged in age from toddler to adult. After college, I spent many years teaching high school social studies. My favorite hs course to teach was World Cultures. It was such an exciting and educational experience teaching high school students about non-western cultures.
My teaching style is focused on authentic learning and intrinsic motivation, and the believe that every child can learn. Culturally Responsive Pedagogy guides my instruction, assessment and interaction with all of my students and colleagues. My education philosophy starts with a student-centered approach to learning and is driven by a desire to take part in the development of happy and productive global citizens of the 21st century. My teaching practice includes a broad range of pedagogical approaches including culturally responsive teaching, critical pedagogy, and constructivism.
My practice is integrated with technology and aimed at using content to teach skills and broad reaching philosophies and concepts. My goal is always to guide students and colleagues towards a lifetime of learning.
