About Me

My teaching philosophy focuses on developing students' critical thinking skills and evidence-based clinical problem solving strategies through active participation teaching techniques of fundamental content. As part of my classes, I utilize case-studies, simulation activities, and field experiences to develop the essential skills required by registered nurses and public health care workers.

When working with students one-on-one I employ out-of-the-box teaching techniques such as reverse learning to help students tap into their own strengths for academic preparation.

Throughout my career I have trained global health professionals throughout the United States and Africa. I believe that learning should be a joint process between the educator and the student and when both put their best effort forward an ideal learning environment is created.

Research Interests

My research interests involve how community-based disaster response programs are implemented, and their outcomes. I am also interested in studying nursing student resilience throughout nursing school and how students' critical thinking skills evolve.
