I am continuously learning how to be a more effective teacher, and I feel this is critical for a college professor. I want to learn from each classroom experience so I am a better instructor in the next class, and I believe that the evidence of this exists in how my courses are constantly evolving.
My overall goal is to create challenging and interesting experience for students while also providing them with useful knowledge as they begin their professional careers. Not only should I be aware of the current news and business reports, but also the best methods for teaching information to my students.
I attend teaching conferences such as the Organizational Behavior Teaching Conference and have discussions with other instructors to discover more effective teaching methods. Each semester, I actively encourage feedback from my students by asking them to be descriptive in their comments. Additionally, I want to be seen as a caring teacher who is not only interested in their academic success, but also their success in life.
My research interests are related to organizational behavior and human resources with specific interests in emotional intelligence, cultural intelligence, social intelligence, and leadership, which are all areas that have current relevance to researchers and practitioners. More recently, I have found that the cultural intelligence field is such an emerging area that there are many opportunities to create new research streams that I believe I will be focusing more on in the future. Additionally, I have become interested in online social networks and their implications for expatriates and repatriates.
