Join us for a lecture by Darnella Davis, Ed.D., on the legacy of racial mixing. Drawing from her memoir "Untangling a Red, White, and Black Heritage," Dr. Davis will explore the federal policies that shaped two families—one of Cherokee Freedman descent and the other of Muscogee Creek heritage—and discuss how the inequalities they faced persist today.
This event is sponsored by African and African American Studies (AFAS) program, along with the Department of Sociology, the Office of the President and Chief Diversity Officer, the College of Arts and Sciences, and the University Honors Program.
