Participate in some pet-friendly Widener Halloween fun!

Our 5th Annual Strut Your Mutt is quickly approaching!  The event features our beloved pets dressed in Halloween attire. We invite all students, faculty, alumni and their furry family members to participate.   

The dog contest will be held on Nov. 5 at 3:30 p.m. at the Academic Quad. The cat contest will be held virtually, and we will be voting on picture submissions from Oct. 28 to Nov. 5. Be sure to register your pet using the steps below. 

 

REGISTRATION DETAILS

Register by emailing the below information to Kaitlyn Lathrop via email (kalathrop@widener.edu).  All Widener University grad/undergrad students, faculty, staff, and alumni are eligible to register! Please include the following information:  

  1. If you are participating in the dog or cat competition 
  2. Number of pets participating 
  3. Name of pet(s) 
  4. Costume Description 
  5. Your name and contact information.

There is a suggested registration fee is $5 for students and $10 for Employees/Alumni. These fees and any other donations will be given to The Providence Animal Shelter.  Donations can be made directly to the Shelter or through Venmo @WUPRSSA.  Add “Strut Your Mutt” in the Venmo note, please. You can also contact Dr. Angie Corbo at amcorbo@widener.edu for other ways to donate. 

 

COMPETITION DETAILS

The dog competition will take place in person on the Academic Quad on Friday, Nov. 5 at 3:30 pm.  The winner will be determined through judging by faculty volunteers.  If you are interested in judging, please email Dr. Angie Corbo (amcorbo@widener.edu).  

VOTE!!!  The official Howl-oween cat photo collage will be posted on the Widener PRSSA Instagram and Facebook accounts.  We encourage sharing on your personal account and through any Widener platform.  Voting will take place from Oct. 28 through Nov. 5. 

  • Vote through VENMO @WUPRSSA.  Each dollar ($1) raised for the Providence Animal Shelter will count as a vote.  You must enter the pet’s name in the note for this to count. (More information will accompany the “Cat Howl-oween ballot.) 

    The PRSSA e-board will tally the votes from the Venmo donations.  The cat with the highest total votes will win. 
     

    Award Winners will be announced on Friday, Nov. 5 on the Widener PRSSA Instagram and Facebook accounts. 

     
    Just a reminder, all proceeds from this event are going to the Providence Animal Shelter, so we thank you in advance for any donations and your participation.
