Self-Defense Training

The Widener University Chapter of the American Association for Men in Nursing invites all students and employees to this two-hour self-defense workshop. Learn self defense theories and techniques from black belt instructors that can be applied in real-life scenarios. 

Workshop topics will include:

  • Overview of martial arts
  • Basic techniques of self-defense
  • De-escalation techniques
  • How to handle a combative patient in a healthcare setting

The workshop will be led by two certified and experienced marital arts instructors:

Rob Kloss - Kloss is the co-owner of Cornerstone Martial Arts in Hockessin, Delaware with years of experience in teaching, training, competing in, and promoting the combat arts. Kloss is a celebrated martial artist who holds master’s ranks with the World Tang Soo Do Association (6th Degree), World Sin Moo Hapkido Federation (6th degree), Korea Taekwondo Moo Duk Kwan Association (7th degree), and Sin Moo Tang Soo Hapkido Federation (7th degree). He also holds a 5th degree black belt in WTF Taekwondo, 1st degree black belt in Kempo Karate-Jujitsu and a 1st degree black belt certification in unarmed combatives with the Scientific Fighting Congress out of Denton, Texas. Additionally, he is an active firefighter/EMT with the West Grove Fire Company in Chester County and also serves with the county’s Critical Incident Stress Management Team.

Chad Dulin - Dulin brings 35 years of instructional experience including serving as lead instructor for martial arts programs at Tulane University and University of Pennsylvania. He is a black belt and has instructor rankings in Korean, Chinese, Okinawan, Filipino, and American martial arts and is certified through the World Modern Arnis Alliance, Small Circle Jujitsu, and Hock Hochheim’s Force Necessary Program. Additionally, Dulin has more than 25 years of law enforcement experience at the local, state, and federal levels. He currently is the regional lead firearms and DT instructor for a federal agency.
