1. Complete Your Online Orientation Course Modules

Course modules will be accessible starting Wednesday, June 10, 2020 and must be completed no later than two days prior to your scheduled date to virtually attend Pride Experience 1: Summer Registration

What better way to prepare for college than by test driving Canvas, our student learning tool—the same platform that will support you throughout your academic journey at Widener. By completing these modules, you'll feel empowered, informed, and READY to start your experience this summer.

Here, you'll learn about topics such as:

  • Connecting on Canvas - our Learning Management System
  • University Services 101 - including account management, finances, and support services
  • Academics - preparing for your advising session and reviewing course requirements
  • Student Planning Software Basics - how to select your courses
  • Registering for a live scheduling session with your Academic Advisor

How to Get Started: Log into Canvas using your Widener email address. Then select the appropriate Orientation module specific to your major. If you haven't activated your official Widener email account, do so now by logging into your Applicant Status Portal.

If you experience any technical difficulties, please contact the Office of Student Engagement by email at studentengagement@widener.edu or by calling (610) 499-4411.

2. Prepare & Register for Academic Advising

In the Academics module, your final module in your online Orientation course in Canvas, you will find detailed information about how to prepare and register for your virtual advising session with your Academic Advisor on the Summer Registration date you selected.

Each ‘academics’ section for each student is specific to their academic major.

You are expected to be available between the hours of 1:00 – 3:30 p.m. on your selected date. Please pay attention to special instructions provided by your Academic Advisor – a representative may reach out to you to coordinate an individual appointment.

Once you have completed the registration process, an email confirmation will be sent to you containing the Zoom log-in information required for your advising session.

Please complete this process by Monday, June 15, 2020.

At your appointed date and time, you will join your academic advisor on Zoom to register for your classes. Please use the Zoom call information provided to you in your email confirmation. Once you join the call, your Academic Advisor will greet you and start the process of registering for classes.

To properly prepare for your advising session, please complete the following tasks:

  1. Please have your Widener email address and password as well as your Widener Student ID# written down and accessible.
  2. Review the Zoom call best practices document and other important course registration documents provided in the Academics module to help prepare for the call.
  3. Please ensure that you are able to navigate the Student Planning system prior to your session.
