The Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) Club provides a setting for students to explore social work outside of the classroom. The BSW Club engages in a variety of social and service-orientated projects designed and implemented by students. Throughout the year, club members reach out to provide much needed community service to the Widener community and the residents of Chester and surrounding areas.

National Association of Black Social Workers (NABSW)

Open to:

Undergrate and graduate social work students of African decent.

Widener’s Chapter of NABSW is a joint undergraduate and graduate student organization for those of African descent involved in social support, networking, and community service. The group advocates for social change, justice, and human development of African people here in the United States and throughout the world.

Phi Alpha ΦΑ - National Social Work Honor Society

Open to:

Undergraduate and graduate social work students who attained excellence in scholarship

The purpose of Phi Alpha Honor Society is to provide a closer bond among students of social work and promote humanitarian goals and ideas. Phi Alpha fosters high standards of education for social workers and invites into membership those who have attained excellence in scholarship and achievement in social work. Undergraduate and graduate social work students who have completed 9 semester hours of required social work courses or at least 37.5% of the total hours/credits required for the degree, whichever is later achieved, and rank in the top 35% of their class can join.
