We partner with institutions and communities around the world to provide you with life-changing international opportunities.
No matter your major, you can travel to one of our global partner hubs in China, Costa Rica, and the Netherlands to study, engage with the local community, and get hands-on experiences and international perspectives to ready you for your career.
Our long-standing partnership with Chongqing Technology and Business University (CTBU) in China means you'll have the chance to take part in a variety of exchange activities, including our annual 3-week culture and language program. You will interact with local students, learn about ancient Chinese arts, and explore the region, including trips to the Great Wall of China and a panda reserve.
This program has more than 120 alumni who regularly describe their participation as a “life-altering experience,” and several have returned to China for extended study abroad. CTBU students also come to Widener to pursue their majors and enrich the diversity of our campus community.
For years, the lush, coffee-producing landscape of Costa Rica has been a destination for our students and faculty. In collaboration with local farmers, you can engage in ongoing research to support organic coffee production and explore ways to combat the impact of climate change on the ecology.
We have a permanent facility in Costa Rica to call home. CARES21 (Consortium of Agro-ecological Research and Education for Sustainability for the 21st Century), is located about 20 miles north of the capital of San Jose. The site provides a home base for existing projects and for developing new multidisciplinary research and educational programs in one of the world’s most bio-diverse countries.
And you don't have to be a biology or environment science major to take advantage of the Costa Rica hub. Students from a variety of majors, including nursing, anthropology, and Spanish, routinely travel to the country for study and field work.
We also partner with Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica in an exchange program that brings their students to our campus.
Through a partnership with Windesheim University of Applied Sciences in Zwolle, Netherlands, you can take part in an honors conference and research competition alongside students from around the world. While in the Netherlands, you will also have the opportunity to explore the country and its culture –take a famous Dutch bicycle ride or sail down the world-renowned Amsterdam canals. As part of our exchange, Windesheim students also come to Widener for study opportunities.
We maintain agreements and exchanges with other institutions around the globe, offering you the chance to study in Bolivia, Dominican Republic, Honduras, Germany, Mexico, Spain, Thailand, and elsewhere.
