University Advancement

University Center

The University Center, affectionately known as the "UC," is the living room of campus and the heart of student engagement at Widener University. Widener Anti-Sexual Violence Education (WAVE)

WAVE is a university-wide campus safety initiative dedicated to bringing sexual and relationship violence prevention education to Widener University through events, workshops, professional development trainings, and campus partnerships. WAVE is led by a coalition of students, faculty, and staff, with a strong emphasis on student input. The initiative elevates student leadership and offers engaging education around consent, relationships, bystander intervention, and more to our campus community.

Widener Community Connections (CCC)

Widener Community Connections was developed in partnership with Widener’s community services and clinics. This team provides therapeutic case management and resource navigation services to clinic clients. This clinic is staffed by generalist social work interns equipped with the knowledge to assist those served by our clinics with the support they need to overcome barriers in obtaining support services.

Widener International serves as the hub for the university’s global engagement, supporting international students, scholars, and partnerships while fostering worldwide academic experiences for our students.

We oversee international admissions for both undergraduate and graduate students, guiding them through the application process and welcoming them into the Widener community. Our international student services team provides support to all international students across our Chester, Delaware, and Harrisburg campuses, ensuring they have the resources they need to thrive academically and personally.

For current Widener students looking to expand their horizons, our study away programs offer academic experiences in more than 50 countries, allowing them to immerse themselves in different cultures while earning credits toward their degree.

Additionally, Widener International builds and manages global partnerships with organizations, educational institutions, and companies outside the U.S., strengthening our international collaborations and expanding opportunities for students, faculty, and researchers.

The WISER Clinic was established to provide professional mental health counseling that specializes in all areas of sexual well-being. Our focus is to increase awareness of sexual health within the community, and to increase positive coverage and support for human sexuality as a whole. We are committed to providing exceptional, affordable therapy for adults, couples, and families.

Widener Observatory

Hours of Operation:

At the Widener University Observatory on our Main Campus in Chester, students in our Physics Department use a 16-inch computerized Meade Cassegrain reflecting telescope and several, smaller, 12-inch telescopes to get first-hand experience viewing planets, stars, nebulae, clusters, and galaxies.

Widener Reads/Widener Counts Tutoring Program

Widener Reads/Widener Counts Tutoring Program is a federally-funded effort committed to helping America's children become better readers through extra academic help and building relationships. Tutors provide children with one-on-one or small-group instruction in reading, phonics, and comprehension and serve as vital role models to the children that they mentor. Widener Reads is open to work-study eligible undergraduate and graduate students.

Writing Center

The Writing Center provides one-on-one instruction for any writing assignment, regardless of the course. Instruction is designed to deal with individual needs. Faculty at the center assist with selecting research topics, outlining, editing, revising, and brainstorming. Instruction is free and scheduled at the student’s convenience. Students may drop in or schedule appointments for a later date. The Writing Center is open to both undergraduate and graduate students.
