About Me
I am a nurse scientist and Assistant Professor at Widener University. My research and teaching draw on my experiences in clinical care and advocacy. As an educator, I am passionate about supporting learners and engaging in innovative interprofessional education.
I earned my PhD in Nursing Science at Rutgers University, then completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the Health Services and Outcomes Research T32 program at Johns Hopkins University. My research informs aging and home-based care delivery policies to improve health equity for older adults with complex health and social needs (i.e., persons with dementia). I am interested in (1) better understanding systems of community-based care (e.g., home health care, home and community-based services) and how their availability and quality may vary by social and contextual factors; and (2) strengthening the nursing and direct care workforce that provide community-based care to older adults. My current work is funded through the NIA-funded Hopkins’ Economics of Alzheimer’s Disease & Services (HEADS) Center, exploring home health utilization in older adults with dementia in traditional Medicare and Medicare Advantage. This work aims to examine how structural and social determinants influence access to home health care for older adults with dementia.
