About Me
Growing up with a mother who is a nurse and a grandmother who lived with multiple chronic health conditions, becoming a nurse felt like a natural path for me. My first nursing position was on a busy Telemetry/Progressive Care Unit, where I cared for a wide range of high-acuity patients and developed a strong foundation in critical thinking, time management, and multitasking.
Throughout my nursing career, I have worked in a variety of clinical areas, including medical-surgical nursing, orthopedics, rehabilitation, long-term care, emergency care, short-stay procedures, and community health. These experiences have allowed me to weave together the art and science of nursing while caring for patients, families, and communities. I currently work per diem in a procedural unit focused on GI-related procedures, where I continue to enjoy learning something new each time I am there.
My love for education began when I was asked to precept new graduate nurses and work with nursing students on my clinical unit. Encouraged by a clinical instructor to pursue my master’s degree, I began teaching full-time in 2015.
My goal with every student is to help them become the best nurse they can be. Through my teaching, I strive to foster students’ full potential while motivating and encouraging them along the way. I recognize that my students are the future of the nursing profession, and I want to help prepare them to become confident, compassionate, and effective nurse leaders.
In my free time, I enjoy supporting my two daughters, who are both active in sports.
