Gospel Choir

Open to:

Undergraduate, graduate, and adult & professional studies students

The Gospel Choir gives several musical performances throughout the year both on and off campus, including performances at the Martin Luther King Memorial Service and Jesse Anderson Awards Dinner at Widener, and songfests with other local universities and colleges. Students receive academic credit for participation. The group rehearses weekly and offers at least one concert a semester for both the university and local community.

Jazz Ensemble

Open to:

Undergraduate students

Led by internationally recognized jazz artist John Vanore, the Jazz Ensemble is built on the model of the contemporary jazz orchestra. The repertoire is based on compositions from the libraries of Thad Jones, Woody Herman, Maynard Ferguson, Oliver Nelson, Vanore, and others. Improvisation workshops and use of the recording studio round out the Jazz Ensemble experience. The group rehearses weekly and offers concerts for both the university and local community.

Keepin' It Trill

Open to:

Undergraduate, graduate, and adult & professional studies students

Keepin' It Trill is Widener's student-run a cappella vocal group. They rehearse weekly and perform a variety of a cappella selections such as "Send My Love" by Adele, Let Me Love You/Closer Mashup, "Run To You" by The Pentatonix, and have recorded Widener's Alma Mater - "Blue and Gold" - by John Vanore.

Marching Band

The Marching Band brings together the elements of woodwinds, brass, marching percussion, and color guard to perform at football games and other university events.

The FreshBaked Theatre Company

A performance ensemble for audiences of all ages, The FreshBaked Theatre Company is dedicated to exploring "as honestly and responsibly as possible the dilemmas and celebrations that life throws at young people in this incredibly complicated world." Past performances of The FreshBaked Theatre Company include: Romeo and Juliet; The Legend of Sleepy Hollow; Goodbye, Marianne; and The Odyssey.

The Lone Brick Theatre Company is Widener’s resident theatre company dedicated to producing nontraditional theater through innovative scripts, staging, directing, and performance. All students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to join in this up-and-coming theatre group. Past performances of The Lone Brick Theatre Company include: Very Still & Hard to See; Dissever My Soul; Distracted; Lysistrata.

Widener Chorale

Undergraduate, graduate, and adult & professional studies students

The Widener Chorale, under the direction of Kendra Balmer, is open to all Widener students and other members of the Widener community. The group rehearses weekly and performs at least once each semester. Academic credit and studio instruction is also available for vocal students. Students receive academic credit for participation.

Widener Dance Company

The Widener Dance Company is a student-run organization at Widener University! The Company strives to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all undergraduate and graduate students within the Widener community. WDC believes in using our passion for dance to create a safe and welcoming space for students to express their creativity and relieve stress, using the art of dance. We offer something for everyone, with classes in the genres of hip hop, modern, spoken word, ballet, contemporary, tap, musical theater and more!

We offer many student leadership positions between our executive board, chairs, and our student-taught classes.  We also offer the opportunity for members to create their own small groups to be performed at our recital.

WDC offers a multitude of events each year such as Recital showcases, performances, master classes, arts & craft events, and more.

Widener Productions is a television and film production broadcast facility in the Communication Studies Department. Widener Productions incorporates various clubs, including WUTV, WideCast Radio, Widener Sports Network, and WUFilms, offering students a chance to work behind the scenes or onscreen in a real production team.

The Wind Ensemble is a standard collegiate concert band. The group rehearses weekly and offers concerts for both the university and local community.
