Chemical and Materials Engineering Department

The Chemical and Materials Engineering Department prepares students to make valuable contributions in the improvement of life in the broadest sense--energy, materials, and environmental protection, as well as chemical,  biochemical and materials processing and production technology. Faculty and students collaborate with industry on cutting-edge research in new approaches to pharmaceutical development, microporous adsorption materials, and computer simulation of chemical processes.

Civil Engineering Department

The Civil Engineering Department offers students educational training for diverse opportunities in areas related to natural environment and man-made infrastructure. This includes transportation systems; water resources; environmental design/cleanup; buildings, bridges, dams; and construction of all types. Students are exposed to problem solving and field-based projects, and learn in well-equipped laboratories and computer facilities.

Electrical Engineering Department

The Electrical Engineering Department provides a solid foundation in science and engineering principles, as well as practical applications in components of electrical engineering (e.g., circuits, logic design, electronics, communications, signal analysis, computer architecture, and power). Graduates have many career opportunities in related fields including telecommunications, robotics, automation control, medical imaging, software engineering, and aerospace.

Mechanical Engineering Department

The Mechanical Engineering Department provides an education that is postured for a dynamic and highly progressive field that touches all areas of modern technology with practical applications in industry, government, and research. Students are exposed to core curriculum that stresses fundamentals, including strength of materials, machine design, kinematics and dynamics of machinery, vibrations, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and the design of fluid-thermal systems.

Robotics Engineering Department

The Robotics Engineering Department prepares students for a future in robotics, which is expanding at an accelerated pace into almost every industry, including aerospace, agriculture, automotive, chemical, defense, electronics, energy, health care, homeland security, manufacturing, nuclear, pharmaceutical, and transportation. This multidisciplinary program integrates knowledge from various areas such as smart sensors, controls, and electrical and mechanical engineering.

The School of Engineering Dean's Office provides leadership and administration for faculty, staff, and students. This includes the execution of strategic planning, curriculum, personnel, budgeting, facilities, communication, and fundraising. The dean's office is dedicated to the school's mission of providing quality undergraduate and graduate education and to advancing the state of knowledge in engineering, with the aim of preparing graduates for successful professional careers.

The School of Engineering Graduate Programs Office provides administrative support with regard to academic policies and processes for graduate engineering programs in biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, engineering management, mechanical engineering, and dual degree programs with the School of Business Administration. The office also provides support in a wide range of special programming.
