The Widener University Jack & Nancy Dwyer School of Nursing has introduced an Anatomage Table, a life-sized virtual dissection tool designed to provide students with an immersive, three-dimensional understanding of the human body. 

“This acquisition is the result of a true team effort,” said Teresa Lamarra, Director of the Center for Simulation. “Faculty from both Dwyer School of Nursing and the Health and Science Departments evaluated the technology to ensure it met our high academic standards. Our goal is to blend foundational science with hands-on clinical training.”

The Anatomage Table allows students to explore realistic anatomy and visualize clinical procedures, including how IVs and catheters move through the human body. Students can also examine real clinical cases involving conditions such as cancer, stroke, and trauma.

Faculty can also use Anatomage Share, a shared network featuring medical cases and educational lessons from educators around the world. The table includes interactive digital pin quizzes and fast-paced team tournaments that allow students to test their knowledge and skills under pressure. In addition, students can safely complete complex virtual dissections, undo mistakes, and repeat procedures as often as needed, all without the chemical hazards associated with traditional dissection methods.

“Ultimately, this technology gives our nursing graduates a deeper, 3D understanding of the human body, leading to safer and more confident patient care,” Lamarra said.
